Mumbai, Sep 30: 360 ONE, one of India’s wealth and asset management firms, managing over 8,900 client families, announced the launch of Lasting Legacies: a family office handbook for How Founders Design Their Future. The publication is aimed at India’s enterprising families navigating the transition from creating wealth to sustaining it across generations.
The family office handbook draws on the firm’s experience of advising UHNI families, interactions with family office professionals and practitioners, and industry research. It includes proprietary frameworks, practical self-assessments and composite case studies designed to facilitate conversations around family wealth, governance, succession, next-generation development and institutional continuity.
India is entering a new era of family wealth, with 85,698 individuals having a net worth of US$10 million or more and family businesses contributing more than 75% of GDP. As first-generation wealth creators and their enterprises mature, families are confronting a new set of questions around ownership, succession, entrepreneurial continuity and family cohesion.
“Wealth created in one generation does not automatically sustain the next. For founders, the next chapter is therefore about more than just transferring what has been built. It is about creating the right conditions for the family to remain enterprising across generations, while building the institutions that can carry its capital, purpose and values forward,” says Karan Bhagat, Founder, MD & CEO, 360 ONE. “After 18 years of working closely with India’s leading families, we have seen that this journey cannot be approached through a standard blueprint. It requires a clear understanding of where a family stands, where its capabilities need to evolve and how ready its people are to take on greater responsibility,” he added.
Lasting Legacies repositions the Family Office as the “strategic nerve centre of an Enterprising Family”, bringing together people, process, information and technology to help families navigate increasing complexity and move decision-making beyond dependence on a single individual.
Named the Family Office Maturity Model, the framework maps the evolution of a Family Office across four stages, from Formative to Evolved, while two self-assessment tools enable family members to independently assess their entrepreneurial readiness and Family Office maturity. Together, these are intended to surface alignment and divergence within the family and create a starting point for more meaningful conversations.
As Yatin Shah, Co-Founder, 360 ONE and CEO, 360 ONE Wealth, points out,
“Institutionalising a family is ultimately about building the capacity to endure change. As families grow across generations, wealth becomes more complex, ownership more dispersed and decision-making more collective. To navigate this, Lasting Legacies brings together a maturity model, self-assessments and a structured path from diagnosis to action. The intent is to help families move beyond abstract conversations about succession and legacy and begin the deliberate work of building institutions that can evolve with them.”
For 360 ONE Wealth, the publication builds on its longstanding engagement with India’s enterprising families and its work across wealth management, succession planning, trusteeship and Family Office advisory. Its next-generation initiatives, including the Young Leaders Programme, DIVE and HERSELF, complement this work by helping prepare future stewards before responsibility formally transfers to them.
